Thanks to a reader of this site, I was supplied with a copy of a 1978 Washington Post newspaper article in which I. King Jordan, despite having been deaf by then for 12 years, attending and graduating from Gallaudet, STILL considered himself NOT to be deaf. As he put it: “I am not a real member of the deaf community. I’m a deaf-hearing person.”
I.K. Jordan initially was against the 1988 protest, but later switched sides when it became clear to him that Elizabeth Zinser was going to go, and decided that he was DEAF, and rode on the coattails of the four student leaders who led that historic protest. He rode their coattails right into the President’s office, and promptly, but secretly, became yet again a ‘deaf-hearing’ person, not of the deaf community. We, the community of Deaf, were tricked, hoodwinked, snookered.
I.K Jordan was DEAF only when it suited his purposes. I.K. Jordan’s became DEAF just long enough to go from a low-paid faculty member to a cushy half-a-million dollar per year job as President.

Readers, please download a copy of this full article [link above] for yourself and see the true colors of the man who, despite an education and degree from Gallaudet; despite 12 years passing since he lost his hearing; despite being surrounded and immersed in the DEAF community, in 1978 declared to the world through this Washington Post Article: “I am not a real member of the deaf community. I’m a deaf-hearing person.”
I.K. Jordan is a full-blooded, deaf-hearing Audist, indeed, and now it should be clear to everyone exactly why Audist Ken Levinson has been on the Board of Trustees for so many, many years! I.K. Jordan has been very careful to select for long-term service on the the Board of Trustees certain persons whom he feels carry the same de(a)featist audist attitude as he does.
Be Gone, I.K. Jordan! Be Gone, Ken Levinson! Be Gone, ALL de(a)featist Audists in this corrupted Jordan administration!
